For more than 40 years, the Josephology Centres have been meeting every four years to share their work and to worship Saint Joseph. After Italy, Canada, Poland and Mexico, France shall hold the next international symposium. It therefore falls to the Redemptoris Custos Institute (Famille de Saint Joseph) to welcome Saint Joseph’s friends from all over the world, from the 25th to the 30th September 2017 in our monastery of Saint-Joseph de Mont-Rouge (archdiocese of Montpellier).
This meeting is especially important: as a sign of the vitality of the devotion to Saint Joseph in France, its mission is to take part in the renewal of French-speaking theological research on Saint Joseph. We would therefore like the works of this symposium to draw the outlines of a theology on Saint Joseph at the service of the Church of the 21st Century, as Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger wrote in 1977: “The Church cannot grow or prosper if we let it ignore that its roots are hidden in the atmosphere of Nazareth. (…) It is only by starting out from there that the Church can have a new beginning and be healed. ”
The website linked to this event is now open, on the very day the Church celebrates the memory of Saint Brother André Bessette, the apostle of Saint Joseph… May he keep us in touch with Christ’s Gospel and help us to honour our patron saint as it pleases God.
